    Gustav Heverle

Gustav Heverle (1920–2009) was a distinguished Czech actor with a natural, understated performance style who became one of the key figures of post-war Czech theatre. Born into a traditional acting family, he studied at E. F. Burian’s Acting School and co-founded the legendary theatre Větrník. After graduating from the conservatory, he performed at the Central Bohemian Theatre in Mladá Boleslav, later joined Burian’s D 49, and subsequently Jan Werich’s Divadlo ABC. His most significant legacy, however, is tied to the Prague City Theatres, where he was a company member for more than two decades and created dozens of notable roles. His acting carried Burian’s intensity, Werich’s insight, and deep humanity. He shone in roles such as Buffalo Bill in Lemonade Joe, Villon in The Ragged Ballad, or Brutus in Julius Caesar.
