Мартін Вачкарж
Martin Vačkář is a Czech author, translator, and publicist who has long been devoted to literature, music, and theatre. He studied English, Japanese studies, and Sinology at Charles University in Prague, and after returning from abroad, he joined the cultural section of the daily newspaper Lidová demokracie in 1976. There, he mainly wrote about music and amateur artistic activities. He also works as an interpreter and translator from Japanese and English and writes scripts for musical theatre. Critics describe him as “an author with an exceptional sense for language and rhythm.” Thanks to his wide cultural scope, Martin Vačkář is considered one of the key figures linking Czech literature, theatre, and music.
