Рене Шмотек

René Šmotek is a Czech theater and film actor originating from Bystřice pod Hostýnem. Originally trained as a house painter, he later studied acting at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and earned a degree in cultural dramaturgy at the Silesian University in Opava. He launched his professional career at the Petr Bezruč Theatre and subsequently became a founding member and long-standing pillar of Ostrava's Arena Chamber Theatre. Between 2014 and 2021, he was a member of the drama ensemble at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, after which he became a freelance actor. On screen, he appeared in feature films such as Želary, The Sun State, 3 Seasons in Hell, and Waves. Television audiences may also recognize him from prominent roles in drama series such as Seven Steps to Power, Crime Scene České Budějovice, The Nineties, and Doctor Martin.
