Stefan Vögel
Stefan Vögel is an Austrian playwright, author, and theater creator. He was born in 1969 in Bludenz, Vorarlberg. Although he successfully studied business informatics at the University of Zurich, he never pursued this field professionally, preferring to dedicate his time to writing. In the early 1990s, he took his first artistic steps in cabaret, writing texts for performances. Gradually, he became one of the most performed and successful contemporary German-language playwrights. He is considered a master of sharp comedies in which he tackles complex life themes with cleverness and ease. Critics often note with a smile that thanks to his technical education, his plays have almost mathematical precision and perfectly timed punchlines. His titles such as Arthur and Claire, Blind Date, and the stage adaptation of the novel Love Virtually are also frequently performed here. His bitter comedy The Kidney (Ledvina) was premiered in the Czech Republic by the Mír Theatre, the first of all Czech theaters to stage it.
