Iva Klestilová
Iva Klestilová (formerly publishing under the surname Volánková) is a leading Czech playwright, dramaturg, and screenwriter. She connected her artistic career with HaDivadlo in Brno, where she performed as an actress for twenty years. Over time, she established herself as a major voice in contemporary Czech playwriting. She is a multi-time finalist and winner of the Alfréd Radok Awards (e.g., for her plays Všichni svatí, Trilogie minach, and Má vlast – Czech Play of the Year 2006). As a dramaturg, she shaped the Drama section of the National Theatre in Prague and currently works at the Pod Palmovkou Theatre and the Prague City Theatres. Her original texts and adaptations (The Master and Margarita, Madame Bovary) are staged at leading Czech and European theatres. She has also achieved significant success in television, writing hit HBO series like In Treatment (Terapie) and Head Over Heels (Až po uši), and serving as dramaturg for the acclaimed miniseries Burning Bush (Hořící keř).
